For the “Recommendations” feature of Certified+, I’ve chosen a different way to make us closer! Let’s have lunch! Or maybe grab some dinner. Or breakfast. Brunch? You choose the meal and I choose the spot. Deal?
This Wednesday, I’m taking you all to Magnolia Bakery
401 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10014
Life needs a little sweetness sometimes, no? What better place to take all of you than here? God, I hope you enjoy sweets.
This is one of the TV hotspots in New York City1, famously known for being in “Sex and The City”.
Outpost Club says: “It’s just one of those New York City landmarks that stands there, day in day out, waiting for you to come back to time and time again.”
FIRST DESSERT: RED VELVET CUPCAKES
This is one of Magnolia Bakery’s oldest and best selling desserts. The classic-style red velvet cupcake is a crimson-colored, chocolate-flavored cake topped with whipped vanilla icing. YUM.
And as me & Anonymous #1 are savoring this delicious cupcake, they ask me a rec for the perfect fall sweater that won’t cost them a month of NYC rent.
In my opinion, the perfect fall sweater is the classic one that looks like it was made by your grandmother, in true ‘When Harry met Sally’ style…
And since they’re in NYC, I asked Ryan Baker, of
for some help. Here’s what he said:I love 10 ft Single by Stella Dallas in Williamsburg for exactly this type of purchase. They have SO much product for both men and women, sweaters included, so tons of choices at reasonable prices (everything less than 100$ typically). I’ve found a lot of great vintage Ralph Lauren stuff there in the past.
100$ is probably the absolute max I’ve seen for a piece there, definitely a variety of price points with most pieces being probably more around the $40-70 price point.
Thank you so much for the help, Ryan! You’re the best!
SECOND DESSERT: CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIES
Also a delicious classic. There’s two at the table: One for me, and one for Anonymous #2. They’re asking me recommendations for podcasts, articles, and TV shows. Well, well, well… if it isn’t my favorite question ever.
